What visitors usually need to know
- The Tacoma Narrows Bridge is tolled eastbound only, toward Tacoma.

- Express toll lanes elsewhere in the region are optional — the free lanes stay open.

- Which direction of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge is tolled?
- The Tacoma Narrows Bridge on SR 16 is tolled in the eastbound direction, toward Tacoma. Westbound travel toward Gig Harbor is not tolled.
- How do I pay a toll as a visitor?
- Washington toll facilities use Good To Go! passes and pay-by-mail billing based on licence plate photos. Rates differ by payment method, and rental cars are usually billed through the rental company, often with an added fee. Check the official WSDOT tolling site and your rental agreement for the exact terms.
- Are the SR 167 and I-405 express toll lanes optional?
- Yes. Express toll lanes are a choice; the general purpose lanes remain free. Rates on those lanes change with demand.
- Do the rates shown here include fees?
- The rates come directly from WSDOT's toll rate feed and reflect what WSDOT publishes for the facility. Additional charges such as pay-by-mail fees or rental company administration fees are set elsewhere and are not included.
