Traffic, camera, travel time, mountain pass, road weather, toll and ferry information is supplied by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). Tacoma Trekker is an independent Tacoma visitor guide and is not WSDOT, the Washington State Patrol or any official transportation agency. Conditions change quickly; check the official WSDOT page before you drive.
Advanced travel questions
- Can I rely on the bridge clearance numbers?
- No. Clearance data is reference information published by WSDOT and can differ from posted signage because of resurfacing, snow pack, load settling or temporary work. Posted signs and permit requirements always govern. Anyone moving an over-height load must verify clearances with WSDOT directly.
- Who are the commercial vehicle restrictions for?
- They are for truck and oversize load operators: weight limits, bridge restrictions and route restrictions reported by WSDOT. Most visitors in a car or van will never need them.
- Why are Canadian border waits on a Tacoma site?
- Some visitors drive Tacoma and Seattle as part of a longer trip that continues into British Columbia. The waits are shown as a convenience for that trip, kept out of the way of everyday Tacoma driving.
