Highways to the park

These are the state routes that carry Tacoma traffic toward the park entrances. Live notices above cover all six; the official travel map has the detail.

  • SR 7

    Tacoma south through Elbe toward the Nisqually corner of the park.

  • SR 706

    Elbe and Ashford to the Nisqually Entrance, Longmire and Paradise.

  • SR 161

    Puyallup and Eatonville, an alternative south-county approach.

  • SR 165

    Buckley toward Carbon River and Mowich Lake. Often gravel and seasonal.

  • SR 410

    Enumclaw toward the White River Entrance and Sunrise. Chinook Pass is seasonal.

  • SR 123

    Ohanapecosh and the Stevens Canyon side. Seasonal closures are common.

    The park's main visitor center, at Paradise.

    Typically open daily in summer and on winter weekends and holidays, with reduced hours in shoulder seasons. Days and hours change without notice, so confirm with the National Park Service before you drive up.

    Sunrise Visitor Center

    A summer-only visitor center in the historic Yakima Park Stockade Group.

    A short summer season only, typically from about early July until early October, tied to the Sunrise Road opening. Closed the rest of the year.
