The route

  1. 1

    Titlow Park & Beach

    Start

    Morning

A saltwater beach, a lagoon and short trails directly under the Tacoma Narrows Bridges. The beach is much larger at low tide.

Next: Narrows Brewing is a couple of minutes north along the water.

  2. 2

    Narrows Brewing Company

    Break

    Midday

A brewery on the water at the Narrows.

Next: Drive east toward Snake Lake, about fifteen minutes.

  3. 3

    Tacoma Nature Center

    Walk

    Afternoon

Trails and a boardwalk around Snake Lake, in the middle of the city.

Next: Point Defiance and Owen Beach are north-west, roughly twenty minutes.

  4. 4

    Owen Beach

    Finish

    Late afternoon

A second beach to finish, this one facing Commencement Bay.

Notes

Titlow Park sits right under the Tacoma Narrows Bridges, with a beach, a lagoon and trails behind it. Narrows Brewing Company is a short drive north along the water. Tacoma Nature Center adds an easy inland loop around Snake Lake, and Owen Beach at Point Defiance rounds the day out if you want a second beach. Tide matters at Titlow — the beach is much bigger at low tide.
