Trolls: A Field Study by Thomas Dambo at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium

Thomas Dambo's TROLLS: A Field Study is a temporary outdoor art exhibition running Oct. 15, 2026 – Jan. 24, 2027. Four of the 12 trolls are at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma: Boge (just outside the front gate), Larke, Poppy and Birch. Download the zoo's official troll map on pdza.org/trolls to find each one. The sculptures are built from reclaimed materials such as fallen branches, scrap wood, pallets and twigs. The exhibit is included with daytime general admission or membership — it is not free. Parking is free. Zoo hours (per pdza.org): Oct. 5 – Dec. 20, 9 am – 3:30 pm Thursday – Monday, closed Tuesday – Wednesday (open Nov. 11; closed Nov. 26, Thanksgiving). Dec. 21 – Jan. 3, 9 am – 3:30 pm daily (closed Dec. 24 and 25). From Jan. 4, 9 am – 3:30 pm Thursday – Monday. Check pdza.org before you go. During Zoolights (separately ticketed evenings), Boge, Poppy and Birch can be seen among the lights; visit in the daytime to see all four. The other eight trolls are at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park in Eatonville, outside Tacoma. Visiting both parks is the only way to see all 12.
